Tom Bowerman's obituary

ANNISTON Funeral services for Thomas Roy Bowerman Sr., 85, of Anniston, will be on Thursday, December 20, 2007, at 11 A.M. at Golden Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Roland Brown officiating. Interment will be at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs. Mr. Bowerman died December 16, 2007, at his residence.

Mr. Bowerman was a graduate of the University of Alabama and the University of Oklahoma. He was a veteran of the Armed Guard during World War II and was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. He had retired from Anniston Army Depot as Director of Management Information Systems. He was a member of Golden Springs Baptist Church.

Mr. Bowerman is preceded in death by his wife Frances Johnson Bowerman; his mother, Eunice Bales Bowerman; father, William Henry Bowerman; brother, Herman Henry Bowerman; sister, Juanita Bowerman Berman; grandson, Thomas Roy Bowerman III; and a granddaughter, Terri Bowerman.

Mr. Bowerman is survived by his sons, Charles Henry Bowerman and his wife, Linda, of Jasper, Thomas Roy Bowerman Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Talladega, Terry Adrian Bowerman, and Barry Lynn Bowerman and his wife, Elizabeth, all of Anniston; grandchildren, Christopher Lynn Bowerman, Tiffany Michelle Bowerman Garrett and her husband, Darrell, Dustin Chase Bowerman, Cylie Brooke Bowerman, Elisa Lynn Bowerman, Sandra Bowerman Tidwell, and Charles Ray Bowerman; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jason Troup, Alan Conn, Mark Hinds, Mike Hinds, Randy Schultz, and Tim Brittian.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a website founded by Mr. Bowerman, www.armed-guard.com, which is dedicated to the World War II U.S. Navy Armed Guard and World War II U.S. Merchant Marine.
